Le Retour

The Return
We are committed to transforming the symbolic and dark DOOR OF NO RETURN of the ‘House of Slaves’ on the island of Gorée in Senegal to become the DOOR OF RETURN. This place will become a powerful symbol marking a new page in history; the victory of our people over their painful past, the victory of the Present over the Past.
The Return
The Return will also allow our representatives to share the knowledge acquired worldwide on the land of their ancestors, offering healing therapy from the divisive effects induced by slavery and colonization. It will be an opportunity to debate at all professional and creative levels in order to develop their potential and knowledge with their counterparts across the diaspora.
We hope to create permanent social economic ties with the continent and facilitate a long-term commitment to an economic growth plan.

Mrs. Rama Ata Gaye

It was a matter of symbolically healing the wounds of slavery, of treating this pain that is still raw on both sides of the ocean. It seemed to me wise to take a step towards healing in this place.
